It would have almost certainly have hit the defender on the
line, not obvious enough for DOGSO. I think that's why the
check took so long, they'd already decided on the handball and
were trying to plot the path of the ball.

Was tentative going into this about the appointment of Rob
Jones. I am now convinced it was the wrong call by the PGMOL.
Caved into pressure from the crowd time and time again. Had the
whistle on dial for Bukayo every time he went over despite
minimal contacts. Yellow cards extremely inconsistent on both
sides, two sets of rules for the two sides. Spurs bookings all
warranted for sure, Arsenal somehow escaped with just 3 yellows
and all 11 men on the pitch.
Does anyone else think it’s bizarre they took 3 minutes looking
at a 50-50 handball, and barely a check on the Nketiah lunge at
Vicario? Or Ben White raking his studs down Udogie’s lower leg
in the first half?
Really strange handling of a tough, emotional game. Jones way
of dealing with the game seemed to be holding his head
ludicrously high in an aloof manner, considering he knew how
poorly he had handled both sides comparatively.
Way too easily swayed by the Arsenal crowd, not the first this
season either….

By the way I think they got the handball correctly only because
it was a goal otherwise, just odd they spent 3 mins looking at
this compared to not at all for Nketiah!!

I’ve given up trying to understand what is handball and what
isn’t anymore. Tottenham vs Man United. Hand up by spurs
defender blocks shot, no VAR intervention.
Luton v Wolves shot deflects off other body part and hits arm
pen given, no VAR intervention.
Arsenal v spurs. Player jumps in to block ball, coming at short
distance at speed, var intervention to give a pen. Where is he
supposed to put his hands??
In a couple of years we will have defenders afriad to tackle in
case they get sent off, and defenders not blocking shots in case
of handball being given.
Penalty was absolutely ridiculous, just glad spurs equalised to
nullify the goal. If this is the way the rulers of the game want
to go with professional football then they won’t have me
watching anymore!

Though he was fine. Foul detection is an easy hit but when you
look at the challenges, and there were quite a few, as players
tried to make their mark it becomes very difficult to judge.
Comparing one foul with another is is impossible - and wrong.
You cannot do that and often there is a context too. Then there
is the play acting, the holding of the head when nothing hits
the head and the rolling around in agony waving hands around.
Observers here feel one way, the referee another and I think he
got it about right. 4:3 split on cards I think, no reds and a
fair result.
I feel Jones gets unfair treatment here criticising his height,
his running style etc. And that is before he referees. What
nonsense yet people appear to come from the angle I don't like
him for quite nebulous reasons and knock him. The result feels
right, Arsenal are not yet Champions in the making.

Personally, penalty is correct, arm is away from the body and
blocks a shot on goal. Probably a missed YC. Jones position from
that corner seemed very central and quite far back. A more
common and wider angle and he may have seen and given the
handball first time. Right outcome on no red card, defender
behind plus would be very harsh.
Personally handball penalties should only be given if deliberate
or if they block a shot. YC if it’s deliberate and blocking shot
on goal. Deliberate and DOGSO = Red. Undeliberate= pen only

Very difficult not to hold your head high when you are the
tallest person on the pitch at 6'5".
I thought it was an excellent performance in what was
undoubtedly his biggest game to date. PGMOL put a lot of faith
in him in giving him this game and I think he has more than
repaid them, and will now regularly be getting the big games
alongside Oliver and Taylor.

I thought he was excellent under lots of pressure.
Seems to be becoming more highly ranked now.
I recall him as what would now be a 2A and, although perceived
by some as more concerned by his appearance at times than his
performance he was always keen to learn and improve.

He was way too easily swayed by the Arsenal crowd I’m sorry.
Inconsistencies on bookings between both sides my main concern
and you can only put that down to the occasion with Arsenal
baying for blood with every call, as is the way for one of the
best derbies around should be.
But regarding his height, he perches his head way up, whereas
most have their head either downwards or middle. It gives an
air of over confidence in my own opinion as a tall man myself,
but is just my interpretation. Has a ******* expression but
that’s not unique to him, most officials are like this.
