Missing Officials

I was just wondering how many officials are currently to have
matches. I can’t think of any referees but Viccars & Holmes
don’t seem to have had any matches yet….

We seem undecided on whether Rob Lewis has retired to take up
another role within refereeing, but he and Darren Handley have
certainly not featured yet this season.

Darren Handley is now in the process of completing his PGMOL
Observer accreditation, whilst Rob Lewis is performing a
Coaching role.

With EFL appointments now having been made to the end of 2023, I
think we can assume that Rob Lewis and Darren Handley have both
retired from refereeing. I will add them to my database of Final
Games, these being:
Rob Lewis, Mansfield v Leyton Orient, April 2023
Darren Handley, Grimsby v Crewe, April 2023.
(With acknowledgements to Soccer Base).
If either returns, it will be easy to remove them from the
database, as I had to once before with Darren.
James Oldham has also been mentioned, but I note that he
recently refereed Ebbsfleet v Barnet, so may well be on the way
back from injury.

Darren Handley had a pre season game at Crewe. I also saw that
he was observing in the WSL/ WC in the past few weeks.

Thank you. My database covers only EFL / PL / FA League and Cup
matches, and pre-season friendlies are not counted. It's
happened before with Darren, but I suspect this time, his
absence from active refereeing is permanent, and good to hear
that he is remaining active in the game.

Accreditation completed. Ironically, both gentlemen will be on
same match this weekend as an Observer and Coach.
