Blackburn v Sunderland.

Word going around the AR mistook a steward wearing a fluorescent
jacket as a Sunderland defender when Blackburn equalised as the
forward looked well offside.
Not blaming the AR at all but Sunderland AFC merchandise pushing
the third strip.
I have seen Sunderland v Blackburn dozens of times over the
years home and away and both sides have worn their home co!ours.
From a refereeing perspective I would be interested in opinions.

I had this issue with a team wearing Amber,I asked for the
steward to be moved,I was given some stick by players and crowd
at the time,but when you have to make a split second decision it
makes all the difference

Having seen a still from tactical cam I personally don't think
it has anything to do with that and it's purely a
rumour/hear-say, the nearest steward in a fluorescent jacket is
2 yards away from the corner flag and the Assistant is in-line
with the 2nd rear-most defender stood just after the penalty
spot.
It looks like it was merely a tight decision in real time; i.e.
H20 makes a run through A32 and A13 also closer to the assistant
is A2 who is making a run in the opposite direction. (apologies
if any numbers are wrong, white numbers on fluorescent kit isn't
great)

The only other time I remember either of the clubs changing was
around 30 years ago, just before football was invented in 1992.
One very finicky referee ordered Sunderland to change, at Ewood
Park, “because both clubs had 50% white in their shirts”.
Sunderland played that game wearing Blackburn Rovers away kit
