Keith Stroud - Watford v Birmingham

Busy Saturday afternoon for Keith Stroud at Vicarage Road. He
issued seven yellow cards, six of which to Birmingham players,
and a red card - second bookable offence. Thirty-three fouls
were given. Although I'm not sure all yellow cards were given as
a result of fouls, that proportion seems hefty.
I'm not questioning it. I only saw the two yellow cards for the
red card and both were right, even Birmingham boss Eustace said
as much. I did wonder, though, is it healthy for Stroud,
well-documented a Luton fan, to referee Watford? I thought the
idea any referee with any interest of a side does not referee
them or any arch-rivals - Watford hate Luton. I know Stroud has
refereed Watford plenty of times throughout his long career but
nevertheless, it seems odd...?

So luton hate Watford yet Birmingham picked up most yellows?
I don't understand your questioning of this

Like I clearly stated, I’m not questioning it. I am asking the
question out of interest as I know there are referees, Michael
Oliver for instance, who have stated on record they support one
side - Newcastle - and cannot referee that side or their rivals
- Sunderland. What are the rules, as Stroud obviously can
referee his side’s rivals?
Like you said, it didn’t seem to have an influence on the game
but is it healthy? Won’t there be subconscious thoughts? I
personally wouldn’t like to referee the team I support or its
rivals for that matter. Interesting one…

I was at the game as a Watford supporter so may be biased... but
I thought Stroud was excellent from start to finish. All of the
bookings were correct including one of our players for waving an
imaginary card. The two yellows for the red were absolutely
nailed on.
Whether he should referee Watford is perhaps a wider point - but
he was excellent on Saturday IMO.

Just sounds like a typical Keith Stroud performance to me
😂
