I can't comment on the rest but the foul call in this incident
seems clearly correct. York player gets goalside and the
defender holds him (by the arm or shoulder). I'm sure closer
replays would reveal that more clearly.
Then, you can argue about the likelihood of the attacker
controlling the ball and hence DOGSO; besides the 'surprises are
for birthdays and Christmases' style of refereeing (which can be
useful in some scenarios but generally leads to rather weak
officiating imo), I don't find this decision thaaaat
catastrophic - personally.

Each to their own! I don’t think there’s enough in it but agree
it’s hard to tell definitively with the one “broadcast” angle.

Have you watched all of the games? In the season I got promoted
from L4 to L3 I had 11 red cards in 14 games and something like
70 yellows. I finished top on both observer and club marks, so
was obviously doing something right. You can only referee what
is put in front of you, the number of yellow and red cards
cannot be an indicator of your performance.

lenient.

I once had to get between two police officers to stop them
thumping each other in a game between two different forces. Not
a position I ever expected to find myself in. Goodness only
knows what the repercussions might have been for them if they
had succeeded.
