C L PAWSON - Newcastle v Brentford

Not the best from Pawson tonight in my opinion… VAR had to come
in a few times to sort some issues out and I don’t think he was
sure if it was a penalty when Flekken took out Gordon.
He looked a bit hesitant in other decisions and the handball
penalty overturned by VAR was the correct decision.
Can’t argue with most of the cautions and a few for the back
chat was well deserved.

If the linesman thought it was a penalty, why did he not flag as
per protocol

If your referring to flag across the chest signal they did away
with that a couple of seasons ago at least. I believe it’s to be
communicated via comms now

I think you’ll find we up north were shocked, no saddened, to
see how the south was basking in sun while we had the most
miserable 48 hours of persistent rain 🤣

Yes, because you don't have a comms system in your ear and
mouth. At Premier League they will just discuss it and let the
referee indicate the outcome.

Never a foul in a million years for the Wilson disallowed Goal.
Not a penalty, clearly contact Initiated by Gordon
Never a handball
Three wrongs from Pawson, two from VAR.

On the three main incidents, I’d say the Wilson goal was very
harshly disallowed. There was some (very slight) contact with
the keeper, but I’d argue that Wilson was pushed towards him by
a Brentford defender, so to disallow it was very harsh. The
penalty that was given was debatable but I’d argue correct.
Gordon was clever to put himself in position to draw the foul,
but once there, the keeper made contact separately with both of
Gordon’s legs. The debate seen in the media afterwards where
different pundits went different ways on it (Sky saying it was
clearly a penalty, BBC saying definitely not, as an example)
suggests no clear and obvious error. The second penalty was very
harsh and was correctly overturned.

Never heard such drivel. On that logic they may as well not have
flags and just run up and down the line with their hands in the
air

With respect, this wasn't supply league and at supply league you
don't have a comms system. Which was exactly my point that you
referred to as drivel.
