Just interested in people's opinion, has anyone seen the red
card (sorry not sure how to add a video) to the Halifax player.

I’ve seen it, very weird. But did the Halifax player hit Marsden
in the face as well? If not, a stupid red card to give imo.

Just posted this in the non league thread but moving here - clip
linked below. As I see it, the player tries to stop the refs arm
from hitting him and hits the referee accidentally. It looks as
though the referee originally goes to apologise and then pulls
out a red card! Judging on a short clip alone, I think that’s a
rash and radical response from Mr Marsden before he’s taken the
time to think and process what’s just happened. Bizarre and only
the player will know if it was to try and defend himself or
whether he lashed out.

From the limited angle looks like player running across penalty
area, Marsden indicates throw in, catching the player, whose
reaction is to lift his own arm.
To me, purely accidental, apologies both ways, say something
like "at least I didn't go down!", shake hands and get on with
it

Just viewed the video from the link in a previous comment. The
whole thing looks completely accidental to me and if I were the
player, I would be asking for an appeal.

I've seen it four or five times now and to be honest I could
make a decent case for both the Prosecution and the Defence. I
don't believe the player knew it was the referee who
accidentally caught him by the arm; I think he thought it was
another player trying to intimidate him and so he reacted rather
strongly, one might say over strongly. Were I the referee I
would have passed it off as an unintentional match incident and
made a bit of a joke about it and not issue either a caution or
a sending off.
It does look initially as if Marsden was going to make light of
it; I wonder if he got a message in his ear from AR or 4th
saying something along the lines of " he's done you deliberately
there "

I agree. I think it's a case of "Oops, sorry, mate" all round.
