one as reserve umpire!

A couple more minor changes to appointments. Richard Illingworth
has replaced Alex Wharf at Third Umpire for the New Zealand v
Afghanistan match, with India's Jayaraman Madanagopal now Fourth
Umpire.
Michael Gough has also replaced Wharf as Third Umpire for the
Australia v Pakistan match, with Madanagopal Fourth Umpire
again.

Sounds like Wharf is unwell, possibly a touch of the Bombay
trots or similar. Shame for him as this is probably the
highlight of his career so far

Alex Wharf has been replaced by Ahsan Raza for the game between
South Africa & Bangladesh. Jayaram Magdanagop will carry out 4th
umpire duties.

Richard Kettleborough is now ill too. He has been replaced by
Adrian Holdstock for India Vs New Zealand.

Very good to see Alex Wharf umpiring in todays game between
Pakistan and South Africa. According to Mark Nicholas on comms,
Alex spent 3 days in intensive care so great to see him back
well and umpiring!

Really interesting to see what happens with Dharmasena now SLC
have been suspended by ICC. When Zimbabwe were banned in 2019,
Rusere was pulled from and assignment in West Indies and
replaced by Holdstock. He wasn’t appointed to an international
match until the ban on Zimbabwe was lifted.
It also raises a very interesting point regarding Afghanistan.
SLC banned for government interference yet the Taliban banned
women from playing cricket and Afghanistan were still allowed to
remain active. Very interesting situation.

I suspect that Dharmasena will still get his customary semi
final! I hope he doesn’t get the final thought, that would be 3
times in a row, would be nice to see someone else get it!
