Injury time - Leicester v Hull

We’ve had one here with 3 minutes in a half with 8 substitutions
and a delay for a concussion test. Were the extended timings
just a trial?

8 subs, 6 bookings, 2 injuries (one for a head injury)
apparently amounts to 3 minutes. No repercussions for Hull’s
continued time wasting- why would they stop if there is no
punishment?
Clearly the new initiative to try and have the ball in play for
longer this season was for August only - can’t say I’m
surprised, these things never seem to stick around for longer
than a few weeks.

I will put my post on added time here.
After watching many games so far this season and 5 games live I
genuinely do not know what the instructions are for added time.
Whatever they are they are being interpreted inconsistently.
At Elland Road today Dean Whitestone added only 2 minutes in the
first half, I had 5 on my watch. Second half 4 minutes when I
had 7 on my watch. It appeared today there was no time added for
the unpunished time wasting by the Sheffield goalkeeper. There
have been games when my watch was in agreement with the referees
and in those games there was a large amount of added time.
Does anybody have an answer.

I was at the Leicester game today and I completely support the
observations made about the time added at the end of 3 minutes.
Whilst I don’t think Leicester would have scored if there was 20
minutes added time the fact remains that even to the most
impartial observer 3 minutes was an absolute joke.

I’m kind of glad we weren’t the only game where this happened.
It’s such an amateur thing to do when supporters were buying
into it and loses officials any credibility at a time where
we’re really struggling anyway.

It's vital that referees don't take a backwards step on this
initiative.
Going forwards, I'd like there to be transparency with a visible
clock that the referee stops at appropriate times (goals, subs,
VAR, injuries, etc) so everyone knows exactly how long is left.
Does anyone have any data on ball in play and length of games in
the EFL and PL so far this season? The impression I got from the
first week or two was that referees should generally be looking
to add at least 10 minutes of added time across the two halves
to try and get towards 60 minutes of ball in play time, albeit
of course it will be a bit different for each game.

Brentford v AFCB had 8/9 mins added on 2nd half today.

The instructions given (which as far as I am aware have not
changed are):
Goal Celebrations: Exact time - goal to restart.
Injuries: Exact time - play stopped to restart.
Substitution: Exact time - play stopped to restart.
Penalty Kick: Exact time - award to restart.
Red Card: Exact time - card shown to restart.
VAR Check: Exact time.
Delaying the restart / general time wasting: Referee to make an
allowance based on match events.
It is the final one which will still be subject to
interpretation. One specific point to note is that it is not
exact time for cautions. The expectation is that cautions are
generally issued quickly with minimal delay to the game.
