Dear oh dear… do VAR officials know the offside law?
If Akanji isn’t interfering with play when he sticks a leg out
from the header by Ake then all the rules need rewriting.
Terrible decision by VAR Harrington. If it’s a subjective
decision which arguably it is, why didn’t Harrington send Oliver
to the monitor.

Had the same thing at Turf Moor last weekend when Watkins was
stood in front of the keeper when a shot came in and blocking
his sight. Watkins jumped over the ball and was deemed not to be
interfering.

Where the player standing in the offside position literally has
to jump out of the way to avoid making contact, if the law
doesn't expressly state this is offside, then it should do.
Morally if not legally, these must be given offside.

I remember many moons ago before this continual
reinterpretation of the offside law we had a league referee from
where I live, Cliff Maskell, and his attitude was: if he's on
the field of play then he's interfering, that's why he's there

It’s beyond ridiculous now. Not only is he miles offside and in
front of the keeper, he actually flicks his left foot in an
attempt to play the ball. It’s the most blatant offside and the
easiest decision ever for VAR to disallow or recommend an OFR or
whatever it is this week. The one and only decision he can’t
come to is to allow the goal. I said the other day that these
guys are professionals and supposedly the cream of the crop and
that decision today should be meat and drink for Tony
Harrington. Was he scared to send his far superior colleague
Michael Oliver to the monitor? Was he scared of upsetting Man
City? Enough is enough now, serious questions need to be asked
this evening and going forward as this is reflecting appallingly
on Howard Webb and PGMOL. This isn’t a Fulham fan rant about the
result, we’d probably go on to lose away at Man City anyway.
This is a football fan rant about the utter incompetence of the
officials at the top of our game. The mistakes that have been
made already this season, and we’re still only in Game Week 4
don’t forget, are beyond inexcusable. I thought we wouldn’t see
another balls up as bad as the Wolves non penalty at Man Utd,
but Harrington and Co have smashed that out of the park today

Has VAR even intervened on a subjective decision yet this
season? They just seem to sit there and go, yep not intervening.
Personally referees should be allowed to go to the screen upon
their own choice like in rugby. If the referee isn’t sure or
hasn’t seen let him go and look.

With those outdated views came certainty of where you stand.
Pardon the pun .current interpretation of the loaf from our
current sg1 officials is the major reason our game is dying.

(Edited, again we do not allow petty club related remarks
,stick to constructive criticism of the officials please. )
A clear offside wrongly given on the field by the linesman, and
then wrongly given off the field by VAR. The VAR experiment
needs to end now and let the on field officials get back to
doing their job properly!

Out of interest, if in this type of situation, would an AR be
expected to flag even if he was unsure whether the player
touched the ball or was interfering; or would he simply advise
the referee that a player was in an offside position but from
his angle he couldn't tell whether he touched the ball or was
interfering? If the latter, presumably the referee would make
that decision unless he too didn't have a good view. In such a
scenario, wouldn't VAR be expected to advise an OFR as it would
be considered subjective?
On the other hand, if the Referee says he saw it clearly and
didn't consider the player offside, wouldn't that effectively
shut out VAR?
