Andrew Madley: Sheffield United v Everton

A feisty little game for Madley to control so far. Lots has been
let go, which hasn't been an issue up until now. 2 correct
yellow cards. A great decision around 50' to give a FK rather
than a PK. One small personal criticism, Evertons discipline is
horrendous, the yellow card needs to come out to stop the
moaning, how Mr Simpson as 4O hasn't called Madley over to book
Dyche yet is a mystery! Apart from this, a good showing thus
       far.

On 64'. An excellent call and great positioning to see that
Foderingham (SU GK) didn't catch the ball outside his box!

Excellent from Andy Madley as always, seen him live multiple
times a season for years as he worked his way up the leagues.
In my opinion, the second best in this country after Oliver.

Whilst, overall, I agree that Madley is one of the best referees
in the league, I (as an Evertonian) obviously have a different
       view of:

I must assume that the wording of Law 12 has been changed then.
       --- Quote ---
       > If a defender starts holding an attacker outside the penalty
area and continues holding inside the penalty area, the referee
       must award a penalty kick.

This was questioned by the commentators at the time as well.
For me, that was the only questionable(?) decision in the whole
game. Not sure where you are coming from regarding Everton's
       discipline.

As I saw it (and Madley/VAR) The foul started and ended outside
the box. As he was crossing the line (which belongs to the
penalty area as we know) the defended was no longer pulling the
attacker back with any force to affect a foul. Attacker flung
himself forward (or if we’re giving him the benefit of the doubt
then the momentum took him forward) in order to try and “win” a
       penalty.
