Good. He should be. Disgraceful behaviour.

A fine will mean nothing to someone on his wages. What the FA
need to do is increase the number of games in which he is
banned, that will mean far more to him and Liverpool

VVD gets an extra game van and a whopping £100k fine.
Finally a strong punishment has been issued for dissent

In what respect is a strong punishment? Extra game ban was the
least that could be expected for OFFINABUS. I would imagine the
fine is less than a week's wage.

The F.A. has bottled it, in my view. Because VVD didn't leave
the pitch when told to go after the VAR review and because he
prolonged his verbal dissent, he should, in my opinion, have
been handed a minimum of a further 2 match ban and fined the
maximum amount allowed, which I believe is 2 weeks wages. Then,
players might, just might, get the message.

It was only ever going to be one extra game, they don't really
have grounds to go more than that.
Liverpool don't pay massive wages so that is probably around a
week's wage, perhaps a bit less. It has to be looked at in
context, it you and I were involved in a street fracas and
argued with the arresting police officers what would we be
expected to be fined. I'd be pretty shocked if it was a week's
wages, and people would generally see that as an excessive fine.
Or if we were sent off and refused to go, we'd probably be
looking at £30 to £40, there's no grounds in football to fine
people more because they are multi-millionaires (accept there is
an argument there should be, but there isn't).
To reply to the other post, the two week maximum fine is for
clubs fining their own players for breach of club rules.

This is very informative thank you. The real question is, will
VVD learn from this episode and be more restrained in future by
not aiming such disrespectful abuse at match officials ? Only
time will tell but I for one will not be holding my breath.

Rooney was once given a "standard" 2 match ban for OFFINABUS.
You must have missed Salah being paid £350k a week and a quick
google search shows VVD is on £220k a week.
