Personally, the first YC was a howler. Clear foul on
Alexander-Arnold who then just throws the ball back in the
direction of the throw? He only gives the YC after the crowd
moan. Then he bottles the second one.

Van Dijk gone for DOGSO on Isak.
That won’t be overturned by VAR.

This is what happens with mandatory yellow cards for throwing
the ball away. It was frustration rather than time-wasting. To
send him off for that would be wrong for the neutral and maybe
that is what referees are instructed to do. Game management.
As for bottling it, the red card shows he has bottle.

Second angle there makes it look like a good tackle but he
clearly takes his leg first.

Good call for me. I hope Mr. Brooks will report Van Dijk for
whatever comments he made along with the aggressive gestures as
he refused to leave the pitch straight away once directed to do
so. Looks awful when we are trying to promote more respect for
officials.
In fairness to Mr. Klopp who I have criticized for his behavior
previously he was quite restrained (from what I could see) in
his conversation with Craig Pawson. Good to see some improvement
on this end at least.

I really never understand this comment. What should Mr. Brooks
do, he has a clear view, has blown his whistle and made his
call. He knows VAR will review. If he waited you might say
players influenced him. I don't think a referee at this level is
just waiting for any opportunity to brandish a red card out of
excitement.
He handled it as well as he could in my view.

I was half expecting Klopp to blow a gasket down there after the
TAA and Van Dijk incidents, but as you rightly say, he has to
improve his behaviour towards officials or he would have been
hooked from the touchline too.

Newcastle's constant aggression and repeated fouling is being
enabled by the referee refusing to take action to stop it.
Joelinton in particular (it's usually Guimaraes who gets away
with 6 fouls per game). And I'm no fan of Liverpool!
