J BROOKS - Newcastle v Liverpool

Alexander-Arnold is a very very lucky boy to still be on for two
yellow offences, the first for delaying the play by chucking the
ball away, and then a challenge on Anthony Gordon.
A clear second yellow and Brooks didn’t award it. Very poor.

I could make an argument for both it being a yellow and for
keeping the cards in the pocket. Which says that the referee
should be afforded the benefit of the doubt. Provided it all
goes ok after this.

If he does his job and awards Trent a free kick for the first
incident then he doesn’t have to be putting himself under the
pressure to bottle a clear second yellow …

Two errors. First he missed the obvious shove by Gordon and then
booked Alexander-Arnold.
Secondly it was an obvious yellow card for the foul on Gordon.
So correct overall outcome but with both the decisions
incorrect.

First, it should have been a free kick to Liverpool. Second how
far did he actually throw the ball away, did it justify a
yellow. Third, did foul by Alexander Arnold justify a yellow,
probably. But, he didn't deserve 2 yellows. Badly handled by
Brooks.
