Lewis Smith - Peterborough v Derby

Wasn't aware of Mr Smith before the game.
He seems to be officiating in the national league and
championship at the same time, so is obviously being closely
watched.
And you can see why.
In control, good consistency, fitness and communication.
Dealt with the sending off of the Posh manager for 2 yellows in
close succession very calmly not helped by the 4th official
who really did seem to want to be centre of attention
May need to be slightly more forceful if game gets a bit niggly
as did let a few things go, but players and crowd alike accepted
decisions.
Only negative is the usual, played an additional 30 seconds to
the allocated time even though an injury of 2 minutes took place
during it.
Didn't make any difference as Posh wouldn't have scored again if
we'd played all night, but I've not heard one negative report
from a disappointed home crowd.
Had the privilege of watching a young Mr Oliver at London Road,
and Mr Smith certainly had that air about him.

He was officiating in the National League last season, but
received several EFL appointments in the second half of the
campaign, followed by his subsequent promotion. It has been
discussed extensively on here.

Glad to see him going well but as some will remember, I'm not
surprised at all.
A natural talent who will go all the way.

let the game flow

Did Derby and Peterborough get promoted without anyone being
told? 😂
