Manchester City v Newcastle United - R Jones

I thought it was a dangerous refereeing display from Rob Jones,
and I wasn't convinced by his performance at all. If this is the
PGMOL mantra moving forward for this season, then we are going
to see a lot of serious injuries.
Both fouls on Rúben Dias from Anthony Gordon were dangerous, and
the first arguably worse than the second and how Gordon didn't
end up sent off for the first, let alone for two yellows was
       staggering.
Similarly the foul from Bruno Guimarães on Foden was dangerous
and completely unnecessary and I can't believe it wasn't
       punished more.
General foul detection seemed a little awry too, with Grealish
coping a lot of decisions against him that were fouls but not
       given.

Seems like he’s tried to overcorrect from his whistle happy,
       disjointed display last week.
Maybe he’ll find a middle ground next time out

He was never in control. Compare his performance to that of
Michael Oliver earlier. He la is quick movement and often ends
up 50/60 meters from play and results to flashing cards. How
Gordon wasn’t sent off for a second YC I don’t know and Bruno G
was lucky not to go. Both tackles were worse or as bad as the
       red card at Anfield.
A poor display of refereeing that had both sides not been
focused on football could have descended into chaos.

I watched it and thought he was excellent, can't really think of
anything he got wrong. But then again I'm neutral with no skin
       in the game.

Got to say I’m completely in agreement with Rustyref… scratching
my head at anything of note that was missed tonight? Big game
safely delivered… which is all any referee at any level wants! I
would suggest anyone picking major fault here either has tinted
glasses on or has never refereed tough games (even locally)!
Can’t think of any cautions missed and Gordon was never getting
a second YC for his tackle on Dias, especially when advantage
rightly played. A good outing for the team in Yellow!

I like Jones, always looking for a reason not to blow and
caution rather than a reason to interrupt the game.
Occasionally it means he misses something, and there were a
couple of fouls he didn't sanction but I think he enhanced the
       game.
