Pleased to hear this and sorry I couldn't make it this

Hi all, long time Colchester-supporting lingerer on the forum
and thought i’d get involved in the chat for the new season! I
was hoping to give you a glowing report on Mr Backhouse but
unfortunately, we became record breakers as the first team to
have a game called off on the opening weekend! What I will say
is he was in good spirits having a joke with fans while the rain
was lashing down and “rolling” the ball to sarcastic cheers.
Hopefully we’ll get our league campaign up and running next week
at Valley Parade!

Potentially so Acme. ( Like I said he needs time as there are

I thought for his first game Ben Atkinson did reasonably well,
i would agree his cautions and his sending off were correct thou
there were one or two tackles which he identified and awarded a
free kick for were worthy of a caution.
He remained mobile and showed a good level of fitness and
appeared better than some first season referees i have seen in
recent years perform . Thou at times could have made his
decisions quicker
Just read Nigel Cloughs comments on the game and he thought the
red card was harsh, as he said there was no malice in the
tackle, it was an awful tackle and fully deserved being sent
off.

Agree, 100% red. Off the ground and came in at some force. No
arguments against it.
