Fourth Official: Ivana Martinčić (CRO)
Video Assistant Referee: Tatiana Guzmán (NCA)
Assistant Video Assistant Referee: Carol Anne Chenard (CAN)
Offside Video Assistant Referee: Chantal Boudreau (CAN)
Very good performance in opening game. Experienced referee, one
of the female officials in Qatar. Liked her style - full
control, calm authority, didn’t overreact to anything. FIFA will
surely be pleased.
Only possible issues - should probably have given the penalty
live and possibly could’ve given an earlier YC to Norway for
persistent/team fouling (although tricky, as nothing was a bad
foul but maybe could’ve picked a cynical one). Didn’t need it
for control, but Norway under pressure seemed to just cynically
foul when NZ took the ball off them.
First live announcement after OFR. Never seen it done before,
but unsure of the point of it, as she simply said verbally she
was giving the penalty which she could’ve just signalled (but
not explanation of why?).

agree with your last sentence, i want them to say something
along the lines of "the ball clearly hits the defenders
outstretched arm which is in an unnatural position/making their
body bigger. after viewing this footage the decision has been
changed to a penalty kick"
as it was it added zero to the game

FIFA where announcements have been used previously and those did
seem to go into a bit more detail -

I think they need to work on the sound quality and the process
by which the information is delivered.
It's a start but really we need to hear the full conversation
between referee and VAR.
