Arthur Dimond from Harlow, of course.
Tony Cox came from Buckhurst Hill in Essex before moving to
Croydon.

I ran the line to Tony several times on the Isthmian League
after he came off the EFL list. A charming man and a good
referee.

Unless I've missed it when scanning through no mention of Rex
Spittle. Wasn't he from Yarmouth?

The last referee from Norfolk (and he resided on the
Norfolk/Suffolk border) was Jim Borrett who retired in 1994.
Around the same time, Ray Bigger moved to Norfolk and retired
shortly thereafter. Since then there has been no referee.
Norfolk has a population of 850,000 and 1/55 of Englands MPs
reside in Norfolk, so why the poor representation? I am aware
that there have been ARs from Norfolk, notably Darren Cann who
achieved great things, but this lack of representation is
concerning.

Upton records Jimmy Borrett as criss crossing the
Norfolk/Suffolk border during his time on the National List at
Diss, Eye, Harleston and Ipswich ! Whether he was so very
itinerant I do not know, it may be that he lived in a very rural
location and a different town was given for his base on various
occasions.
I had the good fortune to line to him once. A more amiable and
entertaining man would be hard to find. He was also a fine
referee.

Whether he was so very itinerant I do not know,
Maybe he lived in a rural location and a different town was

Ian James "Jim/Jimmy" Borrett (inc. his 3 seasons as line)
78-9 to 83-4 Fressingfield (11 miles from Diss)
84-5 to 92-3 Harleston (20 miles from Norwich, 24 from
Lowestoft)
93-4 he used his office (Jewson's) address in Ipswich
There is no record of him ever being at "Eye" (21 miles from
Ipswich)

If you do it by weight, Suffolk would be much higher.

Mike Bull was EFL in not too distant history.

On Suffolk, in the eighties and nineties there was Kelvin Morton
from Great Barton. Following on there was Carl Finch, who sadly
died young, and Mick Thorpe. But again poor representation from
East Anglia. Only 7 MPs in Suffolk though!! Time for the FA to
wake and smell the Coffey and promote more refs from East
Anglia.
