Taylor has Burt rather than Beswick but Lee Betts was with John
Brooks yesterday at West Ham so it's neither Taylor's or
Oliver's normal team.
Attwell was VAR for Oliver in the CL last Tuesday at Marseilles
which I gather involved some controversy. I've not seen the
game but there's an interesting post by Chefren on Law5, who
suggests the 3 major decisions were correct or at least
supportable. It was one of those unfortunate situations though
where all those decisions went to the same team, in this case
Panathinaďkós, which it is said also happened in Greece in the
first leg. On Tuesday, they were awarded a penalty for handball
after an OFR, and a Marseilles goal ruled out for offside after
an OFR as to whether a non-scorer was interfering with an
opponent as I understand it. And Marseilles were denied a
penalty which drew conflicting opinions on the other forum.
Whether that has anything to do with this appointment, I've no
idea.

Betts was regularly with Oliver towards the end of last season
(including for a Europa League quarter final), so it would not
surprise me if Anthony was a replacement for Michael.

Important observers a plenty for these matches… a good chance
for Peljto to impress in front of Vassaras.
The big hitters being out isn’t surprising at this stage with
the vast riches on offer in the group stages.
