All officials should be pleased with themselves...with respect
to the RJJ handball he gave a thumbs up sign to the defence
which I took asmeaning he had seen it....I like the fact Mr
Oldham does let quite a few strong tackles go..just needs to be
careful that when he does blow he's checked for an advantage as
seen him a few times now and that's not his strongest attribute.
However very minor comment on official destined for SG2 and
       above.
PS. Yes it was a dull game, but great way to win from my posh
       supporting view

From my position inside the stadium I thought there were a
couple of missed yellow cards for reckless tackles. However
Scott Oldham generally seems to allow more physical contact than
many and it works for him so no complaints. A good performance
       by all.
It was curious to see four officials take part in the pre-match
warm up. Why change normal practice just for a cup final?
It was also a slight surprise to see the reverse assistant,
Kevin Howick, referee the girls cup final before the main event
even though it was only seven minutes each way. And rather
alarming to see him insisting on a goal kick being taken even
though everyone could see it should have been a corner and all
all the players had set up for one! ;D

I don’t know the answer to your middle point but my assumption
would be a 4O usually has admin duties to undertake and perhaps
that was taken up by Kevin Howick, allowing Tom Kirk to warm up?
Or it could be as you say, a cup final preparation to be warmed
up and ready and/or give Tom the chance to spend some time on
       the Wembley pitch.
Perhaps Kevin was hiding after his previous howler!
