They were all listed (except Challis) in an article on Fri 1st
May 1981 in the Sandwell Evening Mail, sounds as though
verification needed

Farley - Leeds v WBA had been P-P on Sat 25 Apr and was
originally re-arranged for Tue 5 May but was played Wed 6 May
Richardson - article incorrectly gives Stoke v Arsenal, it
should be Stoke v Wolves on Sat 2 May which Richardson did
referee
Reeves - Scunthorpe v Wigan was Sat 2 May but Cardiff v West Ham
was then played Wed 6 May having been called off on its original
date of Sat 14 Mch as West Ham met Liverpool in the FLC final
that day

Needs ratification, but I think that David Letts final game was
Watford v. Nottingham Forest in April 1983

Alan Hughes retired in 1978, Kevin McNally prematurely (I
believe) in 1980/81 and Derek Owen in 1984. I can only include
names where I have confirmation of a 'final game' as a referee
on the EFL or PL.

Mid-April 1983 and both teams vying still for the Div 1 title
(eventually won by Liverpool), so it would make a lot of sense
for the Basingstoke copper to bow out with a game of this
magnitude. I'll include it on my database and wait for any
alternative suggestions from m'learned friends.

David Letts - latest found - Brighton v Wolves - 4th May 1985
(not known if last match)
It was penultimate week of the season.
He was removed from the list two years early.

McNally - latest found - Manchester U. v Manchester C - Sat 27
Spt 1980
He was found guilty of fraud & deception Thu 23 Oct 1980 and
removed from F.L. list

Derek Owen - not mentioned if it was his last - Bradford City v

Thanks JT. I had not realised that David Letts carried on until
1985 rather than 1983, so Brighton v Wolves on 4th May 1985
makes sense. I will amend my database and add McNally and D
Owen.
