I think you have to give immense credit to both Taylor and
Oliver on tonight because they were officiating a minefield on
and off the field. I think it's Anthony's positioning that gets
him caught out for the penalty that Attwell rightly rules, but
all things considered, a good job done on a very difficult and
challenging game.

After issuing all those cards i thought maybe anthony had
changed his name to Antonio.
A very difficult game to referee both on the field and off it.
Think both teams did their homework on how far to push the
limits with the referee.
A clamping down earlier on players surrounding the referee by
sanctioning accordingly would have helped but alas the powers
that be dont want referees to do this, so we get what we get
which isnt good for football.
Only questionable decision was the overturned penalty.
Not sure i like seeing an angry Taylor, i would prefer an evil
stare ala Collina Or to a lesser extent Oliver.

As a ref who’s refereed at a good standard, I empathise with
Taylor. You’ve been chosen for a big final, a big honour, and
just want it desperately to be a good game. But there is very
little you can do if the teams want to play in that unsporting
way - it always falls back on the referee, rather than the
cynically deliberate, pre-planned, coached poor conduct of
players/coaches. Other than deciding, after the first YCs to the
benches, to send off any further poor conduct in the technical
area to send out a strong message and prevent further hassle
(would that have worked …?), I can’t think of anything Taylor
could’ve done differently. I’d say any score/mark is irrelevant
- he managed an extremely tough final really well. Surely uefa
would think the same?

Completely agree. Nothing wrong with his position, his view
obscured by countless pairs of legs. Good VAR intervention but
an understandable on field call.

Depends what he saw. There was some contact but after the ball
was played and not enough for a pen so it could be that he saw
the contact but not the ball being played. I don't know what he
saw, only he knows that but he's not the sort who gives a huge
decision like that without feeling pretty sure about it.

Oh to be able to see that epic Kassai death stare back out on
the pitch, I miss that look.
Filip Glova used to be all grumpy with some pretty cutting looks
until I described him that way on here & he started being all
smily! Missy bmb does hope that was coincidental & not down to
him reading that review on RTR and potentially also discovering
that he is the top ref totty! Although that of course could be
why he's so smily...
Danny Makkelie has some great angry looks. I'll text you some
from the weekend - hilarious!
I seem to have a thing for cute but grumpy men!
Angry does not suit Anthony Taylor, he's normally pretty chilled
and I can't say I liked it! He was very smily before kick off
at least!

Very well done Anthony and team. Good uses of VAR throughout
too. I image based on the speed of the review, Taylor didn’t see
the touch by the ball.
For the retaken penalty you can clearly see Gary Beswick say
something to Taylor( looks like he may be telling him to check
it)

Mourinho was waiting for Taylor by the officials transport after
the game and called him a f*****g disgrace. He needs to look
closer to home, that phrase would be more appropriate to
describe his team’s (and his own) behaviour last night. I hope
UEFA do something about this.

Mourinho is an absolute disgrace. Always has been, always will.
Sadly, Michael was too lenient for me. Also, he went charging
down the touchline at Beswick at one point to no punishment.
Sound a bit familiar??
You know Taylor did well when Twitter thinks so. The penalty
miss was a mistake, but bar that I think he can be very proud of
himself. Attwell and Kav on VAR did themselves proud as well.

What is the world coming to? It is only a game for goodness
sake. UEFA need to come down hard, really hard as well as sort
out the on field theatricals. I could either watch this game or
sand down some garden furniture. I chose the latter as football
is becoming farcical.
