J SMITH - Fulham v Palace

Well Joachim Andersen clearly isn’t deterred in getting dirty
and for a second week running. A clear elbow on Mitrovic which
led to a lengthy stoppage.
Also a stone wall penalty rejected by VAR Bankes after Mitchell
took out Mitrovic.

I have high hopes for Smith, so a little disappointed with him
today. Not awful, but:
- too fussy with his awarding of fouls
- gave the softer of the two penalty appeals in my opinion, the
first should've been OFR
- somewhat random with his (not) awarding of yellow cards.
Shocking offside by the AR when Tete chipped the ball over the
defence and ran onto it himself. Had to check to make sure it
wasn't Hatzidakis!
Joachim Andersen could have received a red for his elbow on
Mitrovic, a yellow for a clear tug back on the ground when
Mitrovic had got away from him, or a yellow for PI, but in the
end didn't get any. Tosin after a soft yellow for timewasting
could've got a second yellow for a foul near the edge of the
area. The fact is was a genuine attempt for the ball probably
went in his favour. Likewise, Palhinha received a soft yellow
but could've seen yellow again afterwards.
I'm sure Smith will get a chance at the top level, on this
showing maybe not quite ready yet

Why was the second Palace goal allowed to stand? The goalscorer
was clearly offside when the free kick was taken and the touch
off the Fulham defender was never intentionally playing the
ball, it just hit him through a crowd of players.

He was onside when the kick was taken (see highlights below) and
it didn't like a Palace player touched it after that when he was
'in an offside position', much as I was hoping it was offside

I don't think MOTD showed the first penalty shout. It's
definitely in the Sky highlights below

What does everything thing about both penalty claims and
Palace's 2nd goal which unfortunately I think was onside.

For me, I think Josh Smith got both penalty shouts correct,
first one just not enough contact and second one easy decision
for a penalty
