S A HOOPER - Luton v Sunderland

This could be an awkward match for Hooper with plenty going on
and the talking points already.
Not a penalty for hands when the ball stuck the arm of a Luton
defender given the speed and distance travelled.
Dealt with the handbags with Lockyer and Diallo sensibly.

Agree with the handball decision and thought he was very
sensible early on when it had a chance of becoming heated. Think
he has got 99.9% of things right but that challenge from Morris
on Neil was awful - clear SFP for me

Very surprised Gelhardt is playing. Clearly elbowed Lockyer in
the mush in the first leg unseen by the officials. Is
retrospective action not a thing any more ?

Another masterclass from Simon Hooper can’t really add anything
else I think every word of praise has been heaped his way
throughout the season and deservedly so

Great performance from Hooper and team, he easily deserves the
FA Cup final but will he get it? Probably not

No somehow it will be Tierney who will probably mess it up like
the efl cup final he did

In fairness, in the past I have seen SG1 referees do play off
games and they were almost invariably good. Hooper was no
exception. Dealt with the tension and edge at the start and
allowed the game to flow.
A referee on top of his game and who looks as though he enjoys
it yet can still give a "are you questioning me" look. I enjoy
watching him although there are others just as pleasing to my
eye.

I rate Simon Hooper very highly but the one thing that did
disappoint me last night was his failure to take any action
against Morris for a really bad tackle on Dan Neil. Other than
that I thought he had a fine match and the result was a fair
one.

Ben Wilmot the Stoke Centre half was very complimentary on
Twitter about Hoopers performance. Nice to see.

I would suggest that saying, "I hope Championship referee’s have
taken note of Simon Hooper’s performance tonight because that is
how a Championship game should be refereed 👏" is more a
dig at other referees than being very complimentary about Simon
Hooper.
