M SALISBURY - Palace v Bournemouth

Surprised no one has commented on Andersen throwing a punch at
Lerma in the box, which broke his nose and looked premeditated
to me.
VAR said it wasn’t a clear and obvious error, as there was no
swinging arm.
It was strong enough to smash his nose in though.

Can retrospective action be taken?

Possibly because some of us are waiting for the fury to subside
before we comment...

I doubt it as the incident was seen and dealt with by the
officials/VAR at the time. Whether it was dealt with correctly
is subjective, of course. My understanding is retrospective
action can only be taken if an incident is missed/unseen but I
stand to be corrected.

How is it known that's what VAR said, just out of curiosity?

For anyone who hasn’t seen it:

How that is not a red is beyond me. I don’t really care what VAR
said or didn’t say, that is a punch to the face and the only
outcome should have been a straight red. There is NO
justification for any other decision.

Very surprised it wasn't went for a review, the evidence was
there as it was a clenched first rather than an accidental
swinging arm. Suspect it might well get discussed when Webb is
on MNF tomorrow.

A red card all day long.
We used to have inconsistencies in referees making decisions and
the alleged rub of the green favouring certain teams. Since the
advent of var we now have these questions raised about var, so
now we are more inconsistent than ever apart from the factual
decisions like offside.

Of course. It's the same people with the same inconsistencies.
Let referees referee and get a decent team of VAR technicians.

When so much time is spent deciding if a forward’s toe was
offside or not or if a defenders arm was in an unusual position
when and if struck by a ball it seems ludicrous that a blatant
act of serious foul play like this is ignored. Crazy. Another
failure of VAR
