2 good calls for both pens so far, Leeds have committed a lot of
fouls in the first half an hour so very stop start

Super Simon so far! Faultless as usual.
The advantage played right at the end of the half was absolutely
beautiful btw.
It gets better and better. Calling out Bruno G for simulation
now. I wonder if he's been reading RTR and listening to all the
moaning of players getting away with this!

I’ve been very impressed an almost faultless game so far (sorry
for when I inevitably jinx it)

You have indeed jinxed it (sort of). I presume his view was
blocked for that pen. How Firpo didn't get booked after tho?
Darren Fletcher (BT SPORT) confirmed that Neil told Simon the
reason he wanted to give the decision was since there "was only
minimal contact between the two players".

good VAR intervention by Swarbrick for the 2nd Newcastle pen,
can't have your hand that high
3rd penalty for Hooper today.

correct decision to send off Firpo, he was lucky not to get a
2nd yellow for the penalty/handball

Nice to see var used correctly, I can’t be too harsh on the
penalty it took me a bunch of replays to notice it.
Correct red card, 2 penalty decisions correct, great decision to
book Bruno for diving.
Great performance in a hostile atmosphere

Why should it have been a caution?

His hand was more or less straight up in the air at over a 90
degree angle. If his hand hadn't touched it the opposition
player would've had the chance to have a header at goal.

It is only a caution if it stops a promising attack. His hand
barely changed the trajectory of the ball, definitely a
handball, but far from SPA it gave them a penalty, and actually
enhanced the attacking chance rather than detracting from it.
