I have never seen him before. However the first 25 minutes
suggests he clearly has some talent. Excellent fitness, good
foul detection and generally inspires confidence……..so far so
good.

The final whistle, and after studying the performance I thought
he was excellent.
High stakes game plenty of physicality but Anthony had total
control of this game.
Confident and very competent. Cards were fully justified. He
didn’t overreact but kept the lid on the game allowing the game
to flow without prejudicing control.
I think it’s the sort of game where you get back in the changing
room take your boots off start to breathe properly and think
“thank goodness such an important game went so well without any
controversy” Very impressed indeed. In many ways he reminds me
of Paul Taylor ( for those who remember him) in terms of style.
( in my opinion an underrated referee). Very enjoyable
performance.

I thought he was outstanding, he referees with the minimum of
fuss , is very good at ignoring minimal contact but maintained a
good grip on proceedings. Second time I’ve seen him and both
times just as good .

Very good overall, certainly much better than the shambles that
were Wednesday. Only gripe is he seemed to have it in for
Callum Paterson, a couple of occasions where he was clearly
fouled and it wasn't given, including one where the defender
jumped on his back and somehow got the free kick himself.

Anthony is an excellent referee and a good guy as well. I have
watched him progress from the National League North and it was
no surprise to me that he excelled last night. Hope to see him
SG2 next season.

What did everyone think of the shef wed penalty appeal for
handball? I thought it was handball and he leaned into it but at
this point who knows what handball is

I’ve met Paul Taylor many years ago. He was always a regular
down at the Goldstone Ground and he was a very amicable chap
with chatting about his experiences.

The ball hit his elbow but his arm was well tucked in from what
I saw on TV, so no penalty for me. I'm not sure VAR would have
suggested a review had it been in use. It looked as though Mr.
Backhouse said to the players that he was unsighted,
unfortunately.
