The list is out.
Referees (12): Nika Amashukeli (Georgia), Wayne Barnes
(England), Nic Berry (Australia), Andrew Brace (Ireland),
Matthew Carley (England), Karl Dickson (England), Angus Gardner
(Australia), Ben O’Keeffe (New Zealand), Luke Pearce (England),
Jaco Peyper (South Africa), Mathieu Raynal (France), Paul
Williams (New Zealand).
Assistant Referees (7): Chris Busby (Ireland), Pierre Brousset
(France), James Doleman (New Zealand), Craig Evans (Wales),
Andrea Piardi (Italy), Christophe Ridley (England), Jordan Way
(Australia).
Television Match Officials (7): Brett Cronan (Australia), Tom
Foley (England), Marius Jonker (South Africa), Brian MacNeice
(Ireland), Joy Neville (Ireland), Brendon Pickerill (New
Zealand), Ben Whitehouse (Wales).
4 English referees which is not bad and much as expected. It is
also nice to see the Nika Amashukeli is going there too. Well
done to him in particular.

No place at all for Adamson (despite his URC semi final
appointment)
Glad to see all 4 Eng refs included and Big Nika
Thought they might up the number of TMOs especially if they are
going to have a bunker

So there we have it at last. A few immediate observations -
Joy Neville involved as TMO
Nika included in the 12 👍🏻
4 English refs, matching the French from 2019
All very much as many were expecting. The biggest talking point
I would suggest is the omission of Adamson despite some of his
recent appointments and World Rugbys perseverance with him in
the recent 6N. A number of learned colleagues on her had
predicted he might miss out and they are proved right.
What now I ask for him? Buckle down and concentrate hard for WC
2027? Decide to pack in his international career? I wonder if it
came as a shock or if he suspected it might happen. Shades of
Glen Jackson at WC 2015?

No real surprises on the main referee front - it was becoming
clearer by the appointments that Karl & Nika were getting the
better appointments.
Agree that the biggest omission completely is that of Adamson,
as Hendo states it reminds me of Jackson & Lacey in 2019 with
both ultimately retiring - Mike, certainly is unlucky not to get
an AR role this time round and this makes me think that WR are
looking elsewhere now.
Chris Busby is probably the one who has benefited from the Scot
missing out!
The other relative surprise is the switch from Damon Murphy to
Jordan Way - the latter has been getting appointments more
regularly on the 15's scene by WR and may well have been a clue.
Unfortunately, Damon just wasn't up to the task at the top level
(again, he must be disappointing to miss out completely).
Obviously the bunker system was going to increase the TMO panel
this time round and only one surprise for me is the omission of
Eric Gauzin (considering it's his home tournament too).
Huge congrats to all officials involved - on balance a really
nice spread!
On a side note - what is happening down in South African referee
development? After Peyper, who's the next big thing? The only
one to spring to mind is AJ Jacobs. The South Africans have a
rich history of constantly producing top quality officials, it
must be hugely concerning to WR that such a big country just
isn't producing talent like the Aussie's & Kiwi's in the SH.

I feel for Adamson who is not a bad referee but just hasn't
really stood out. Dickson fortunate but as a former player has
good credentials.
Would like to see more Welsh or Scottish representation but you
can only select those that are performing well.
