His arm is in a natural position but slightly away from his
body. He moves it back in as it’s kicked to (an unnatural
position) but that’s the way the law it. Never a penalty.
Excellent VAR decision from Salisbury who had replaced Madley
To be fair to Kavanagh from his angle it looked like the player
just leaned into it.

One of the best refereeing performances of the season for me

Given how tetchy the game at The Emirates had become at
Christmas time, it took a fair bit of bottle to let this breathe
the way he did but overall it worked for him and he enhanced the
game. Probably due to injury more than form but Kavanagh hasn't
kicked on as looked likely a couple of years ago, hopefully this
wee run of higher profile games at the end of the season will
allow him to reach his potential next year.

I saw only very brief highlights of this game so can't comment
on Chris Kavanagh's performance. However, I have a genuine LOTG
question to ask. When play is stopped following the award of a
penalty kick which is then subsequently reversed, as happened in
this game, how is play restarted?
