I’m a big fan of Jarred Gillett when he’s on field. A calm,
unflappable guy, he has a quiet, natural authority and this
transmits to the players who in the main allow him to officiate.
Gets most things spot on and has exemplary control on the field
and consequently is able to deal with a frantic match that saw
four goals, two penalties (one missed) and 16 minutes of second
half stoppage time due to a serious looking injury.
Another thing I like about the Australian is the fact he doesn’t
get influenced, calls decisions as he sees them and gets on with
the job efficiently allowing the players to get on with their
game. A class performer.

Didnt see all of the match, but only criticsm would be the
amount of time it took for him to clear the penalty box of
players once var had confirmed the first penalty decision as
correct, he isnt the only referee to have this problem more
action is needed by all referees and their lords/masters as it
is gamesmanship to try to put off the penalty taker.
