Time Wasting in the EPL

Not fully to do with refereeing, but I found this interesting
and something needs to be done by PGMOL soon. Take down if not
allowed.

I would be interested to see a further breakdown of "delays per
event" broken down by whether teams are behind, level or ahead.
That would give a clearer idea about how much of the ball out of
play time is due to timewasting rather than just general
dilatoriness.

The article defines the "delays" mentioned as the time from the
ball going out of play to play restarting, but free kicks,
corners, goal kicks, throw ins, penalties and goals are all part
and parcel of the game and there will always be some natural
time wastage associated with them, without it rising to the
level of "timewasting". No mention of whether substitutions
being made are included in the "delay time". And obviously, the
average "delay" for penalties and goals is massively skewed by
VAR checks (also occasionally delaying other restarts), which
are unavoidable.

Something has to be done regarding goalkeepers, they catch the
ball then drop on the ground lot of the times where there's no
players within 10yards of them stop there for a few seconds get
up take another 10/15seconds to get the ball upfield. I know the
referee cannot y/c him because the ball is still in play, but
the six second should be enforced which it never is .

The only thing that needs to be done is for the Law to be
enforced.

My only response to this post is that it’s so much worse in the
football league, until referees clampdown with bookings, instead
of pointing at the watch, sadly it will continue for the
foreseeable
