End of season Play Offs…..

We are coming to that stage of the season now where the
excitement of the Play Offs capture the interest of all football
fans.
I’m just going to put out some referee predictions for the Play
Offs here and engender some discussion.
Championship:-
John Brooks, Andy Madley, Simon Hooper, Jarred Gillett.
Final:- Simon Hooper
League 1:-
Darren Bond, Tim Robinson, Josh Smith, David Webb
Final:- Tim Robinson
League 2:-
Samuel Barrott, Tom Nield, Sam Allison, Sunny Gill
Final:- Thomas Bramall
I’m basing the final appointments on what happened last year
when all three finals were controlled by SG1 refs (Moss, Hooper,
Gillett) and VAR was used.
No real surprises with most of these but it’ll be interesting to
see what others think.

I think the use of SG1 last season was due to the use of VAR in
the finals. Robinson and Bond have had that experience now, as
has Rebecca Welch in her women’s fixtures - could well be a
candidate for the L2 final.
Would be disappointed if Hooper isn’t involved in some way,
Robinson and Bond most likely to get a game also, think Barrott
will definitely feature too.
In terms of NL play off final, I’ll be shocked if that doesn’t
go to Lewis Smith!

If fit i think James Linnington might feature in League 1.
I also think Graham Scott might feature in the championship.
Def a good shout for Rebecca Welch to get League 2 final if not
possibly a non league F A final.

Scott? He has barely had a game all season. Linnington won’t get
it as I assume VAR will be used

I didnt say either Linington or Scott would get the finals.
A gentle persuasion before retirement possibly for one.

On the L2 initial suggestions, not seen Messrs Barrott or
Allison live this season though Mr Barrott seems to be doing
well judging by appointments. Don’t think Mr Gill was above
average on the game I watched, though maybe done better other
times.
Ms Welsh probably the best official I’ve seen at this level
2022-3 and probably in contention for one of the semis along
with Scott Oldham.

You rule out Gavin Ward at your peril! For some inexplicable
reason he makes quite regular appearances at the play offs

I hope Hooper either gets the Championship play off final or the
FA Cup final. He deserves one Wembley appearance without a
doubt.

Is Darren Bond not injured? His last appointment almost two
weeks ago was replaced by Leigh doughty and he’s had two
weekends without any appointments at all.
I asked the question in the appointments thread but it got
tagged as “dumb” rather than answered…
