Changes under Howard Webb

Interesting article from ESPN -
HTML https://www.espn.co.uk/football/english-premier-league/story/4928105/premier-league-to-appoint-new-coaches-var-specialists-to-continue-improved-standards<br
/>
It notes some changes taking place in PGMOL, with Jon Moss set
to replace Adam Gayle-Watts, who will be taking up a different
position.
Apparently Webb wants to go in the direction of VAR specialists
and referees from SG2 and NL will also be considered
Independent Panel have recorded fewer errors by VAR since Webb
took over.
Semi-automated offside is unlikely for next season - it would be
interesting to know the reasons for this as it is in leagues
such as Italy I believe and I certainly think would be an
improvement as would make for quicker decisions.

Just wondering if there may be a position for one of his former
team, Darren Cann, who unfortunately must be nearing the end of
his great career, with a Wembley semi-final appointment a
fitting swansong?

I am really impressed in the way that the game is moving at the
top level and wonder just how long it will be before each game
is officiated by a committee.

I feel rather sad that all this 'tinkering' with VAR and putting
just about every incident under the microscope is taking away
the spontaneity,in my opinion, of the game
I find I am now not really interested in the Premiership partly
because of all this and rarely, if ever, will watch a match in
the in the Premiership
I suppose it is progress but not for me
I hope that this does not permeate downwards but I suppose this
is a matter of time

Thankfully that seems to be inhibited by the cost so the rest of
the league should be spared from VAR. Lucky for them!

They're probably not very independent then if this is what
they've come up with.

Agreed opinions and more opinions, most of which are probably
split

Reports Howard Webb will appear on Monday Night Football on Sky
a week today before Leicester V Liverpool. Apparently there will
also be a 30 minute programme released at some point before then
which will include some audio between the VAR and referee -

It certainly seems a step in the right direction.

Another step in the right direction so I wonder just when are we
expecting to see the PERFECT game of football? Answers on a
postage stamp to FIFA please.

From what I can work out, Webb will be on Monday Night Football
on Sky Sports as part of the build-up to Leicester V Liverpool
tomorrow night. The show will start at 6.30pm and feature clips
of some audio between ref/VAR and Webb discussing them.
A programme with the clips will also air on BT Sport at 7pm
tomorrow.
