I was there, thought he did well. Clearly not going to win any
prizes for distance covered, but seemed to manage players well.
Before the referee went off the talk of supporters around me was
the age of AR2 Gary Hilton. Everyone around me knows I’m a
referee and they were all asking me how old he is, to which I
couldn’t reply as I have no idea. I could tell them that the
incoming 4th official wasn’t going to lower the average age much
though 😂
Anyone know how old Mr Hilton is, just in case I get asked
again? I’m guessing well into 50s, but appearances can be
deceptive.

I'm sure I asked that question before after seeing Mr Hilton at
Crewe Alex. He reminded me of Mr J Osborne from Ipswich, a FL
referee in the 1960s who always looked a lot older than the
40-something years that he had to be prior to retirement!
