Luke Pearce was not his usual self last night. Very patchy
performance. Breakdowns were very generously officiated ,
leading to lots of turnovers. Offside line was virtually non
       existent.
Big talking point was YC for Ellis Genge. In my mind it was an
'assault' not a tackle from a player who had lost his head. In
an effort to review things quicker there was no mention of the
tucked left arm, which meant it was always a foul tackle, no
mitigaton = red card. Disappointing. Think EG may get cited.
Both Sale and Bristol can be tough sides to referee, capable of
great play, strong tackles and array of "dark arts"
Congrats to Sale on their qualification for play offs

I was due to go to Leicester today, so glad I didn't. Fair play
to the Tigers, they were ruthless and congrats to Chris Ashton
       for reaching 100 premiership tries.
There will be, however, a lot of discussion around the penalty
       try and 2YC.
Ashton was tackled by Hogg, Woodburn arrived, dived on the floor
and slid into the Hogg/Ashton combo, ensuring Ashton's foot went
       into touch before grounding.
On review of the touch referee Karl Dickson asks to look at
Woodburn's actions as being "illegal" and "preventing" a try. I
do not think anyone in the ground, watching at home or who sees
it later will think there is a foul tackle. I still think
Leicester would have won but the decision changed the whole
dynamic. TMO reviews are not about surgically dissecting each
action and I am sure there will be plenty of examples of players
joining tackles on the floor, prior to the line, where no
       penalty is awarded.
From an Exeter point of view, I wish Ashton had scored!
We have had Dickson a number of times this year and have yet to
       have a favourable outcome.

Technically correct regarding 2 YC but wrong outcome. As I saw
it, player is tackled and tackle complete with Ashton's momentum
taking him over the line. A second later Woodman flops on Ashton
and pushes him into touch. That is imho an illegal act, you
cannot push a tackled player into touch or flop on to his back.
Arguably too you stay on your feet. In the heat of the moment
and noting that this is a natural act by Woodburn, the outcome
was harsh but as soon as TMO is involved the officials only have
the law to fall back on. They cannot ignore it simply because
they feel it to be harsh. Penalty try, YC must be given.
If Woodburn was a second later would there have been such an
uproar? No, my point being at what point does falling on
       someone's back become legal.
       Outcome unsatisfactory.

Karl Dickson said he fell on a tackled player. Surely Ashton has
       to release the ball then?

Regarding the Woodburn YC, he fell foul of Law 13.4 which is a
safety issue. Paraphrasing, you cannot drop on a player on the
       ground.
Interestingly, KD failed to apply the law in a similar incident
during a international game. World rugby admonished him so you
can see why KD came to the conclusion he did.
As for Genge citing, what was Luke Pearce and team doing?

As I commented above, they seemed in a hurry, not one mentioned
the lack of a wrapping left arm which changed the dynamic
       completely
I also thought Genge had lost his head and it was deliberate.
Will miss rest of season if found guilty.

Woodburn's red deemed sufficient punishment, no suspension
