I haven't seen the elbow incident but I cannot but think that
allowing players to fire verbal volleys at referees encourages
them to approach officials in an emotional / semi aggressive
manner which can never be good. It creates the wrong atmosphere,
one of confrontation, aggression and unpleasantness. It is all
very good saying that football is an emotional game but these
emotions must be controlled. I have no time for Henderson - he
has too much to say and his manner is confrontational. It is
natural in face to face situations to reflect what you see in
the other person which is why refereeing is such a skill.

and if it had been a high profile official like Michael Oliver
everyone would be saying how well a difficult match was run

Totally agree. More's the pity therefore that a good performance
should be overshadowed by an alleged incident involving an
official. Having seen the incident on MOTD2, I personally feel
Hatzidakis has some explaining to do.

Tierney is just like Taylor and Attwell to an extent. They allow
the game to flow, which leads to inconsistency and blatant fouls
being missed leading to goals and getting KMI’s wrong. Examples
being Spurs vs Chelsea and Man United vs Arsenal earlier in the
       season.
Oliver on the other hand gives softer freekicks and penalties
but is consistent and draws less controversy.
Tierney got the penalty right but missed a stonewall Liverpool
penalty, when salah was pulled back causing him to Sky his shot.

There was a lot going on, Tierney did very well to keep a lid on
everything. That was his main priority. One small error in this
case did him the greater good.

That was a different occasion (I think they were waiting for a
       substitution to complete).

I think it’s time all this aggressive dissent is dealt with.
How many times have we seen players go eyeball to eye ball with
officials and nothing done about it,that in my opinion is not
managing a situation,it’s storing up trouble for later,if
Robertson knew he wouldn’t get away with giving the AR a blast
of vitriol we wouldn’t be in the situation now
       I won’t hold my breath

I am sorry, but if it is a caution for dissent then the
justification does not come into it. If the decision is wrong
(and I am not saying that in this case it is), then showing
dissent by word or action is a cautionable offence. It might
be entirely understandable, but not justified.

It looks to me that Andy Robertson grabs or at least touches
Hatzidakis and the AR has moved his arm to bat him away, much
like you would a fly or a wasp buzzing around you. I also think
this could be an instinctive reaction from the AR to the
unexpected contact from Robertson. Don't think for a minute he
has intentionally made contact, but unfortunately it looks like
he he does. The reaction from Robertson is in my opinion
embarrassing. Hope this is dealt with sensibly and that
Hatzidakis is simply out the limelight for a few weeks. I am
sure he will learn from this.

The hypocrisy of this stinks. It reminds me of players who
scream and shout, eff and blind at you and then complain when a
match official responds in similar terms by saying: "You cannot
talk to me like that" with faux outrage.
I would be perfectly happy for Constantine Hatzidakis to receive
the correct punishment if the offence is properly investigated,
a fair hearing held and guilt proved to the necessary level of
certainty. At the same time we need to have a "reset" in the
way the football players and team officials treat match
officials. The following are all covered by the laws of the
game and - from this point forward - should be correctly and
consistently sanctioned according to those laws:-
~ Dissent by word or action.
~ Offensive, Insulting and/or Abusive language to a match
official - either enforce it or change the law and allow it.
~ Faking serious injury to secure a caution / sending off of an
       opponent.
~ Crowding a referee to dispute a decision.
~ Asking for a VAR check (pointless in any case as they take
       place automatically.
~ Fannying around at the award of a penalty kick to delay
matters and put the player taking the penalty kick off.
~ Any confrontation or physical contact with a match official
(should be a red card followed by a minimum ban of x games -
advised up front so the offending player knows the risk.
~ Delaying the restart of play (this used to be a mandatory
caution, but go lost in the desire to "manage the game").
If Constantine Hatzidakis cops a lengthy ban but the above comes
to pass, then it will have been worth it. It will also be a
miracle, but then it is Easter.
