So the law currently allows a goal to stand if the attacking
team have more than 11 players on the pitch? If I am reading
this correctly this is ridiculous
I would suggest this is something Fulham should try for the rest
of the season, but they should start with trying to make sure
they have 11 on the pitch.

I guess they do not want VAR to disallow a goal because a
substitute stepped onto the pitch just before a goal was scored.

Thankfully not!
Law 3 – The Players
9. Goal scored with an extra person on the field of play
Additional text
If, after a goal is scored, the referee realises, before play
restarts, that an extra person was on the field of play when the
goal was scored, and that person interfered with play: (<--- the
added text)
• the referee must disallow the goal if the extra person was:
· a player, substitute, substituted player, sent-off player or
team official of the team that scored the goal; play is
restarted with a direct free kick from the position of the extra
person
· an outside agent who interfered with play unless a goal
results as outlined above in ‘Extra persons on the field of
play’; play is restarted with a dropped ball
• the referee must allow the goal if the extra person was:
· a player, substitute, substituted player, sent-off player or
team official of
the team that conceded the goal
· an outside agent who did not interfere with play
Explanation
Clarification that the referee should take action against an
extra person on the field of play when a goal is scored only if
the person affected the play, e.g. the Law does not expect the
referee to penalise encroachment onto the field of play if it
does not impact the play.

Well before this, from observation and reading the exchanges on
here it seemed to me that:
Nobody knows what constitutes handball;
Nobody knows why we have an offside law and how it should be
applied;
Nobody knows where the boundaries lie between fair play / foul
play / a yellow card offence / a red card offence and a red card
offence needing additional sanctions;
Nobody knows what constitutes a stoppage in play that should
count towards time added on at the end of a game;
Nobody knows what VAR is for and how it should be applied.
It's all much clearer now, except that if an additional player
behaves as Rashford did in the Manchester derby and United score
as a result it could still be considered, according to the
letter of the Laws, as allowable .....

IFAB covering FIFA's back(side) after the WC final, when subs
were on the pitch prior to a goal being scored - now its ok as
long as they "dont affect the game"

You are correct, nobody knows what handball is. Paul Tierney
certainly doesn’t which nearly cost Everton relegation last year
and cost Liverpool the title.
But swings and roundabouts eh 🤷‍♂️

You really think that in a season of 38 games and an
unquantifiable amount of decisions across those games, that one,
just one, nearly cost Everton relegation and cost Liverpool the
title?
I'm not sure if this is sarcasm, or that you honestly believe
this.
