       A MADLEY: NUFC V WOL

Interesting moment around 20'. Jimenez knocks the ball past Pope
who made an error and goes down under contact. I feel like
Jimenez went into Pope, rather than vice versa, VAR clearly
       thinking the same.
Lopetegui now seeking as NUFC score from a free kick he didn't
think was a foul. Looked a foul however.

That's a foul everywhere else on the pitch, pope should have
       been off

Both Pope and Burn were lucky potentially. Burn seemed to dive
with both feet into the tackle and caught Neves and had VAR
asked Madley to look at either that or the Pope incident, we may
well have seen an different outcome

No. Jimenez buys the contact. Kind of similar but not as obvious
as the incident at Slehurst Park which saw Liverpool get a
penalty bizarrely and had Kevin Friend on the PGMOL naughty step
for a while. Jim Beglin and Conor McNamara on World Feed share
       my thoughts.

I thought the tackle was fine at 1st glance, didn't see the
replay but looked relatively low and got the ball?

Just seen the replay, Jimenez got the ball. Lopetegui right to
be annoyed however kind of have sympathy for Madley as the
amount of ball gotten was minimal.
An OK first half from Madley. 2 noted errors, including the foul
for the FK for the goal. I think he blew up too early for HT to
add to the 2 errors. Bar this a good showing.

How is it not a clear and obvious error? Tony Harrington has
       badly let Madley down there

The fact that there's a large split in opinion between pundits,
commentators, fans and RTR posters shows its not clear and
       obvious.
Now another penalty appeal, this time for NUFC for grappling in
the box. Let's say if the ref gives it VAR will stand by. Not a
clear and obvious error not to give.

If we are going with its not clear and obvious then it shows var
with its current way is not fit for purpose and from watching
matches refs seem to resist giving bigger decisions relying on
       it.
But body checking an opponent on the half way line is a
undebatable foul and I don't think the rules stop applying in
       the box.

How do both players have a case? One player is playing the ball
the other is deliberately playing the man

What do you think pope was doing running in the direction of the
wolves player with the ball the other side of him? He is moving
away from the ball and goal when he makes contact and brings him
       down

Since when are the pundits, commentators and fans that
knowledgable of the laws of the game to decide?
