Agreed but Commentators are very helpful for the blind.

I read on Twitter (yes, yes I know about the accuracy levels on
there...) that there is a question as to whether they have
breached the disability act by broadcasting it with no sound at
all, so potentially more backlash coming their way and this time
from a legal point of view.

A good commentator can really enhance a game for me whereas a
pundit has never given me anything other than a mild sense of
annoyance . More football action on MOTD and less talking about
the action would be good.
I am pleased to see Lineker back and absolutely defend his right
to air an opinion though I hope the new memorandum of
understanding he will have with the BBC bans those less than
subtle puns with which he invariably closes the programme.

The pundits and personalities enhance the show for many people
who have just a passing interest in the actual football and even
less in the refereeing and therefore broaden the viewing
population. They do nothing for me, but I can understand why
they're there.
