Everton v Aston Villa - Anthony Taylor

I have only seen brief highlights, but i also saw a discussion
involving Grandad, Fara Williams and Martin Keown with ref to
       the penalty given to Villa.
Grandad said it wouldnt be overturned, it was an optical
illusion and the ref shouldnt be sent to the screen as per IFAB
       var rules.
I have seen only one angle on the sky sports mini highlights,
from which as a Villa fan i would say Idrissa Gana Guye appeared
to have played the ball, i am unsure if the attacker was fouled
slightly before Guye appeared to play the ball. Thoughts?
Secondly i see mr hackett stated on his twitter feed Villa
should have had a penalty in the first half when Pickford
collided with Watkins as he forced a goalbound shot away for a
       corner.
       A natural coming together?
I have seen it said Ederson was penalised for less in the game
       Arsenal?

Don't think anyone takes too seriously anything Mr Hackett comes
       out with

Personally I think some of the criticism, and at times mocking,
of Hackett is OTT. I admit to occasionally looking at his
twitter feed and while I disagree quite often with some of his
comments, others strike me as being perfectly valid. As regards
the penalty awarded to Villa, my initial reaction was that the
defender just touched the ball and although the challenge was
risky coming in at that angle, the decision was harsh. On MotD,
they suggested closer inspection showed he just missed the ball
       and the decision was correct.

Thanks your thoughts as a villa fan i thought the penalty
awarded was very harsh and i wouldnt have been happy had it been
       given against us.
With regard to the challenge on Watkins by Pickford, i reckon
Pickford got away with one there, had he not been a goalkeeper
or had the challenge been made outside the box by a defender i
think he would have been penalised. As said Ederson committed
less of a foul in the recent Arsenal v Man City game of recent,
       refereed by the same man.
All about angles i think and difficult for var to intervene.
With regards to Mr Hacketts opinions, i tend to agree with you,
similarly some of Grandad Waltons insights seem to be confusing
       too.

I think some of the criticism of Hackett comes from his
continuing mantra of "It was better when I did it" and "I
refereed on FIFA, don't you know?" Him criticising some referees
for a lack of movement and positioning is especially ironic.

Hackett is an opinionated dinosaur who is so far removed from
refereeing id take everything that comes out of his mouth with a
       very large pinch of salt.
He was highly critical of Lee Mason yet it was him that promoted
       him to SG1
