Anthony Taylor (Newcastle vs Liverpool)

With the original post seemingly being deleted, time to start
another.
Taylor was excellent bar one decision involving a foul on Nunez
by Trippier, seemingly ending with Newcastle getting a free
kick.
Spot on with the red card, easy decision for a top referee.
Other officials may have gone yellow, on which case VAR would/
should have intervened. Not sure how Eddie Howe/ Jamie Redknapp
are saying it’s harsh.
Chris Kavanagh with two correct non interventions with a good no
handball call from Anthony Taylor and a very good onside
decision by Gary Beswick.
Wring offside call by Gary Beswick led to the Almiron YC
however, which will be a mark down for the team.
Overall excellent for Anthony again.

No doubt Redknapp will be jumping on the bandwagon about young
referees getting abuse after he’s basically criticised a referee
for correctly applying the Laws of the Game.

I couldn’t have put your opinion across any better. Spot on.
He was talking absolute drivel post match. It was a clear red
and you can clearly see him make a grab for the ball in a
secondary motion after he missed it completely. Salah would have
had a chance to score.
Has to be a red. No debate.

Rednapp has a habit of saying silly things and I wonder if he
understands the laws of the game and the challenges facing
referees. Agree with previous posters, it does nothing to help
referees. Taylor was excellent and in the other match I watched,
so was Hooper.

Disappointed (but not surprised) to hear Eddie Howe saying it
was probably the right decision but he did not know the Law on
handball. He is only the coach of the fourth best football team
in the country, perhaps his employers do not require him to know
the laws / rules of the game he works in??

As if Arteta, Klopp, Pep or any other manager would have said
anything different to Howe.
Surely you must realise pretty much every football presenter and
pundit have no clues about the LOTG and they are still allowed
to spout drivel as a profession. Danny Murphy on MOTD must be up
there for one of the worst football pundits)

Other managers named are unlikely to make the comment that Howe
did because they pay attention to detail. As Howe is an English
manager the comments are unlikely to be given the scrutiny that
a foreign manager might receive.
Howe will be a wealthy man because of the profession he is
fortunate enough to be in and that’s fine but any professional
should know their craft and reading the LOTG would take him an
hour. If he hasn’t invited a qualified referee in before the
season started to update him and the squad on Law that’s
negligent.
I’m just pleased he’s not a surgeon operating on me.

I'm not sure if Redknapp said anything different after the match
but at half time he was critical of the law itself but not how
it was applied last night.

He always had a referee in when at AFCB and he & Jason have
referees/former referees they speak with frequently to clarify
aspects of the LOTG. Let’s face it other than Kyros Vassaras
no-one fully understands handball anymore!! He will have gone in
and reread the LOTG on DOGSO. Rather he says he doesn’t know if
it was right or not when questioned minutes after the game ended
than simply ranting about the referee “costing them” like far
too many managers would have.

Harsh that he now misses the cup final? A point for debate
Harsh that he was sent off for DOSGO in this game? No
As a slight aside: do recall Graham Poll saying in the very good
BBC documentary on him in 06/07 season on him that he didn't
send off Chris Eagles(?) in the Chelsea vs. Man Utd PL game, so
that Eagles wouldn't miss the (FA) Cup final.
