Eight players surrounding him and no action. Woe betide you if
you run towards a referee and get within 20 yards.

I would venture to suggest that his greater ability to manage
such a scenario may well be one of many reasons why he's a FIFA
official and I'm not

The game got quite feisty at one stage, needed a strong referee
and I thought Taylor was very good. Minor quibbles about taking
no action against any of the City players who surrounded him
when the Arsenal penalty was awarded, and I was also slightly
surprised there were no YCs for the Arteta / De Bruyne
contretemps.
Watching Oliver last night and Taylor this evening, I do wonder
whether the gap between those two and the next PL referees in
the pecking order has widened somewhat. Having said that,
there's still time for a number of the newer referees to develop
and it's vital they do so.

Thought Taylor was decent tonight and consistent with the
yellows for dissent, I was a bit shocked when he gave us a pen
as I originally thought Ake handled it on the line but he didnt
and it was for a foul by Ederson which I feel he was slightly
fortunate not to pick up another yellow, and Haaland could count
himself fortunate as well for a elbow on Gabriel, and yeah
Arteta and De Bruyne should of probably warranted yellows and
good var decison on overturning the city penalty buth other than
that Taylor as good tonight

A great couple of months for Anthony Taylor. Very good at the
World Cup and has carried that back into domestic games to give
excellent performances in two big games at the Emirates (a very
difficult ground for referees at the moment), either side of a
seemingly successful Club World Cup. Seems to be on top of his
game at the moment.
Curious that his last 3 domestic matches have all featured
Arsenal!

I had to miss this unfortunately, but glad to hear he had a good
game, he’s on top form right now, and has been excellent in
every game he’s refereed of ours this season.
I wish Arteta would calm down a bit, De Bruyne incident was
unnecessary and childish.

I was glancing at the game while at work, Taylor had a very good
game and dealt with dissent well.
I thought all penalty shouts were correct, albeit one of them
being offside.
Arsenal just didn't put away chances and it cost them
Also Pep was more animated than Arteta last night and that's
saying something

After the early caution for time wasting, I wondered out loud if
this had almost given Ederson a free-pass to push his luck with
time wasting. The odds of a referee at this level giving a
goal-keeper (or any player) two yellow cards for time wasting
are higher than of me winning the lottery jackpot (and I do not
play the lottery!!

Except that he had already challenged the opponent and committed
an offside offence long before they reached the penalty area.
