It is stated on other media channels that officials involved in
uefa competitions this week wont have to attend otherwise
       attending is compulsory.

Removing officials is not what is happening as stated all
options are on the table at the moment but it would be wise to
remove Brooks from the tonight’s and Wednesdays matches just to
take the pressure off him as another poster alluded to

My instinct is this is part media strategy and part regrouping.
After such a poor weekend, this will help draw a line under it,
as ‘something has been done’. Publicly lambasting officials will
never work IMO. Just leaves officials more on edge next time out
(and therefore likely to make mistakes). But if repeated errors
(Mason), then performance principle has to apply and question if
he’s fit to do the job at PL level. Always a very nervy, jittery
official when refereeing onfield - can’t imagine the pressure
cooker of the VAR box being his bag …

Brooks stood down, Marriner takes over tonight, Coote on
Wednesday. Sensible and really inevitable. Feel for Brooks, not
       sure why it happened.

But this is what happens. Players who make mistakes are dropped
by their managers to the bench and don't play. If a player
persistently underperforms then they are sold to lesser clubs.
The consequences for players performing poorly is much greater
than officials. How many years has Lee Mason been persistently
underperforming? And yet here he is, still doing the same thing,
       over and over again.
Howard Webb clearly is going big on the "respect" the officials
campaign, as we have seen with the Lemina red card and the Dias
yellow yesterday. Players should not be going out of their way
to harass officials - but I do think player behaviour is worse
when there is a lack of trust/confidence in officials to make
the right decision. I don't think it is any coincidence that
player behaviour towards match officials has deteriorated this
season with probably the least experienced and weakest group of
       SG1 officials I can remember.

Coote!!!! Coote!!! Talk about forgetting to do your job. I would
       rather have brooks.
Feel for Brooks? He messed up

A lot of what Hackett says is wrong and this is the case today
imho. What is clear reading the critics of VAR is that folk's
expectations are at variance with what Webb said last week. VAR
is there to correct clear and obvious errors. The 60:40 split
opinions are not where VAR will be used.
Twice this weekend VAR failed to correct obvious errors but the
Chelsea penalty claim or the Grealish penalty would appear to
fail the clear and obvious test. Maybe expectations need to be
       adjusted.

Kavanagh, Cook & Robathan also have a Tuesday game, although
it's at Crystal Palace so they could get there ok from Stockley
       Park.

I hope that sports therapists will also be involved in the
meeting. John Brooks mental health with be shot to bits for a
start and I hope he is allocated someone to work with him on
that, along with any other officials who need it. Howard Webb
can say what he wants to them but if he doesn't also look after
their mental health then whatever he says is pointless. They
need people working with them on their confidence, self belief
etc. as well. In this day and age of trending on Twitter and
other social media platform, along with media outlets, within
seconds of making an error or even just a perceived error their
mental health is very important. Good mental preparation is as
important as good physical preparation these days.
