Experienced set of hands on the top billing between Norwich and
Burnley. Big Derby for Donohue on Monday as well! Nice to see
Eltringham finally back in the Championship!

Sorry if this has been mentioned/discussed elsewhere: Does
anybody know what's happened to Ollie Langford? Haven't seen his
name for a few weeks. Seems like his last outing was Swansea v
Burnley (02/01/23).
Also, has there been an update about Andy Davies after his
injury in Wigan v Blackpool?

I don't get to see that many SG2 officials in action, but
yesterday was watching my adopted home town team Huddersfield,
take on QPR with Geoff Eltringham in the middle. Watching as a
neutral, I paid more attention to the officials than if
supporting a team. Mr Eltringham from previous times in action
is usually a safe pair of hands, but he seemed a bit out of
sorts in this game. Despite a number of poor challenges in the
early stages, he didn't produce a YC until about 20 minutes in,
just as the game looked as though it might spill over. One
occasion when a QPR player had fallen over with the ball and
wouldn't release it, resulted in a skirmish before he
intervened. An inconsistent approach to dissent, one YC late in
the game for kicking the ball away, but two similar incidents
earlier on had gone unpunished. Huddersfield had what seemed a
strong penalty claim for handball turned down, but hard to tell
from the referees position at the edge of the box and his AR on
the other side of the pitch, unable to assist. One definite
positive was there was much less tolerance of shirt-pulling than
in the L2 games I watch so the players didn't try it as often.
Overall it was a decent game in which Mr Eltringham and team
played their part.

He is definitely still active, saw him on the Elizabeth line at
Paddington Station about 10 days ago with several other PGMOL
officials in their branded tracksuits. Recognised Jeremy
Simpson as well, but none of the others.
Injuries happen to referees just as they do to players.
