WSL - Chelsea vs Liverpool

Todays TV game in the WSL (Referee P. Howard according to my
app) on BBC kicks off and is abandoned with in 10 mins for a
frozen pitch. How on earth does the game even start if it’s not
playable after 10mins. Farcical would be an understatement.
I appreciate external pressures may be involved but surely at
any level we should not be gambling on player safety to try and
get a game played!!

Abandoned after just 6 minutes, to be precise. It can't have
been fit to start. A pitch wouldn't deteriorate significantly in
such a short space of time, especially in the middle of the day.
If in doubt, postpone on the grounds of safety, I say.

As I mentioned on the appointments thread, it was alluded
afterwards that there were external pressures probably because
it was televised by the BBC. Disappointing in the end that Neil
Hair wanted to postpone it earlier in the day but the match
started anyway.
The near touchline was particulary farcial with the players
sliding about.
The six minutes are now available to watch on the iplayer (kicks
off at 16 minutes in):

I also find it amazing the commentary team don’t have the
correct name for the referee at the ground. They have named him
has Paul Howard on numerous occasions in the commentary. I
wouldn’t know Neil from Paul so who knows 😂

Probably the many thousands of people who watch League 1/League
2 football.
These mistakes happen, often at source. Marc Edwards refereed
Hartlepool's last home league game and was mistakenly left on
the press teamsheet yesterday, even though Darren Handley was in
charge.
