Thoughts on the Kompany tackle? Looked off the floor and high to
me when he went flying in on Salah. Possible red?

Taylor is not a big game referee. 3 YC in the first 35’ minutes.
       Two possible red cards missed?

It's a red for me. Off the floor, high, out of control, ticks
       the boxes.

Not the big game Taylor we were hoping for. Foul detection has
been mixed at best. Lovren could easily have been binned and
Kompany - wow how many times does this guy get away with red
card tackles! No doubt our city posters will defend him yet
again. He was Off the floor two footed catches him on the ankle
       - endangering safety of opponent.
Not convinced at all. Let’s hope for better in the second half!

Think he has done well. Not an easy occasion but has read the
game well. As usual on here such nonsense as “not a big game
       referee” what such utter rubbish.

Done well? He missed 2 red card challenges....! Managing the
game through dishing out yellow cards. It's just rubbish.

A shocking decision to bottle it and give Kompany a yellow.
Every box ticked for a red card. Appalling.

Taylor is perfectly capable of handling a big game as you say
but I wouldn't consider he's done well, particularly in that
first half. Not rank bad by any means but I wouldn't label it as
a good performance. I don't understand if some agreeing with you
are implying the Kompany YC was correct. As rustref comments,
it ticked the boxes. He has got away with some poor challenges
over his career but seems to be one of those players who nearly
always gets the benefit of the doubt.

I disagree with most of you guys... I thought Taylor had a
       pretty decent game.
The two red cards you talk of are never 100% reds. Lovren is
never ever a red, always a yelllw for breaking up a promising
attack. Yes he never really had a chance of playing the ball but
contact wasn’t that great and wasn’t dangerous or excessive
       force.
The Kompany challenge wasn’t a pretty one but the contact isn’t
full on and so I would always advocate a referee going with a
yellow if they aren’t 100% sure it’s a nailed on red (which I
don’t think this was). Had he landed the tackle completely on
Salah then I would say fair enough it ticks all the boxes... but
it didn’t. And so it doesn’t!
I felt he referred the game even handedly and got the game’s
biggest calls just about right. Considering we’re all meant to
be referees or ref supporters we don’t Half moan about our own
sometimes! Football is a spectator sport and that was a great
spectacle. So intense and the entertainment won the day
       throughout.

In general I thought he did well.
I would probably lean more towards a red than a yellow for the
Kompany challenge with the benefit of a replay but I'm not sure
it's 100% either way - I'd probably agree that Jamie Carragher
that out of 10 referees some would have shown red but not all of
       them.
