Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur Simon Hooper

Not good so far. Started well but then the crowd got involved.
Very inconsistent with dealings of yellow cards and since
roughly 10 mins ago he's been completely off the boil.
Unfortunately seems to be crumbling under pressure.
On another note, I wish the dinosaur and Neville would stop with
the over criticism that comes of him with every tackle on SKY

Many eyebrows were raised at seeing Simon appointed to this big
game, although nice Howard Webb sharing appointments around this
was more up Gillett street than Hoopee judging on first thirty
minutes.
Totally inconsistent with the cards almost a reluctance to get
it out that is making players distracted as no clear line has
been drawn summed up by Gary Neville comment on 28th min that
ref having a weird few minutes, a few stone wall mandatories not
done and allowing players to crowd round him, I really feel he
is lacking that decisive im in charge moment. Fingers crossed
from 35 min onwards he picks up.

Must only be me that thought Simon had a solid game this
evening, and being a spurs fan myself I didn’t have any qualms
with that performance

Thought he was absolute fine to be honest.
Had decent control and got the high majority of decisions
correct.
Albeit not a demanding game.

Didn’t see the game but looks like VAR should have intervened to
give a penalty to Man City for a handball by Richarlison.
Is the bar too high now?
It certainly seems like Darren England doesn’t like to intervene
in big games. Quite a few times now he should have intervened
and hasn’t in big matches.

I think on that one it was whether it was below or above the
shirt line on the arm. Looked too borderline based on the clips
I saw, so assume England thought the same, which seemed fair to
me

It appeared to hit the top of his arm, so not a handling
offence.

I’m not saying it was needed for a VAR intervention but you can
write off England making a VAR decision from the box I have
never seen him recommend a on field review his someone when my
team play is not VAR !

Perhaps the fact they share the same barber was a reason behind
this? Now you know why Paul Tierney changed his hairstyle and
subsequently has started to receive some notable appointments?
