Ajax v FC Twente - Allard Lindhout

For those who don't know Allard he is one of the young upcoming
refs in the Netherlands. He's currently in the talent and
mentoring group and quite understandably - he has a lot of
promise and is a decent young ref. He's got a good degree of
consistency already, stays very calm and focused in difficult
matches, very level headed. Positioning is good, fitness
excellent & he has quite a sprint on him when needed. I'm a fan
of his style.
He is currently on the naughty step for wearing yellow instead
of blue today...
Interesting scenario in his game this evening though. About 35
mins in Ajax player grabs fistful of Twente players shirt. Yanks
him backwards and over. Clear as day red card for DOGSO. Ticked
every box for DOGSO - just outside the penalty area, without the
foul would have been one on one with the keeper in less than a
second, no covering defenders. No issue at all with the
decision.
The interesting part was the Twente player landed on his back,
the Ajax player due to his own momentum falls forward and
headbutts the Twente players boot. Looked like he may have
knocked himself out but I can't say with any certainty he
actually lost consciousness at any point. Medics called on
instantly by players & the ref - you could see the urgency from
them. Around 5 mins treatment from the medics, with a stretcher
on the pitch next to him. Before he was put on the stretcher you
could see the ref speaking to him & the medics and then showing
him the red card. As soon as it had been shown the medics hauled
him onto the stretcher and carted him off the pitch.
Commentators/media also saying the red was spot on. Ajax whinged
about it but if you said to them their kit is red and white they
would argue that it's actually cherry and snow white - you get
the picture! Twente not much better to be fair. In fact I think
there was possibly a post Christmas toy drive given how many
toys were thrown out of prams today - horrible game to referee,
very difficult.
Just thought the red to a player about to be stretchered off was
unusual. The only time I remember it happening was at Dean
Court. Keith Hill in the worst display of refereeing I have ever
had the misfortune of watching live - AFCB v one of the Bristol
teams. First a correct free kick to Bristol whichever, they
decide to take it quickly and deliberately aimed it at the
retreating back of Marcus Browning, who was wrongly booked for
not retreating 10 yards and then Marcus took an elbow to the
face and was unconscious on the pitch - 2nd yellow for bleeding
on the pitch I think it must have been for! He was shown the 2nd
yellow and red whilst unconscious on the stretcher leaving the
pitch. Never been so angry at a game in my life - the late Mr
bmb was still alive so 16-17 years+ ago

Watched the game live clear red card just pulled him back
preventing ob goal scoring opportunity
Ref did ok. Was nothing special but ok to watch, some good
positing and dialogue with players
