Jarred Gillett - Brentford v Bournemouth

A bit of a fractious atmosphere at this game. Gillett stopped
the game when Brentford were attacking, for a head injury to a
Bournemouth player. It seemed fair enough to do so.
Then two Bournemouth players clashed heads, but the Australian
referee played on with Bournemouth attacking. The home crowd
unhappy with this and then even more so when a Bournemouth
player, Cook went down with a knee injury with Brentford waiting
to take a throw in. Again, this seemed fair enough as he was
injured.
Penalty to Brentford - Toney hauled down, defender grabbed him
and threw him to the floor. Gillett gave it and VAR confirmed
it.
Also getting a bit spicy in the dugouts as well. Not easy to
officiate this one.

He also reffed the play-off between these two clubs two years

Yep one of the most difficult games to referee I've ever seen
and he did great - he had a number of KMIs and got them all
right from memory.

Dreadful decision. Toney had Sensie's arm trapped between his
arm & body & was pulling him all over the place before going
down. No way should that have been a penalty. Clever play from
Toney.
That said AFCB failed to turn up yet again and that is what
caused yet another defeat.

Haven’t seen the game but listened to the AFCB boss calling the
decision scandalous..
Unfortunately the FA will take a dim view and will probably
charge him.

Interesting stat… the only two players booked by Gillett were
both goalkeepers!

Just seen it and I agree. Not a penalty for me and should be a
free kick.
And to think someone on this site said Gillett was the best ref
in the Prem 😂

Whilst I sympathise with GON and he had a good point, you simply
cannot say that. He will be charged and has no one to blame but
himself.
Dreadful call yes but what’s really scandalous is the lack of
tactics and/or a game plan!!

I don’t believe one bad call to make a bad referee. I do however
think he should be kept away from AFCB v Brentford games for a
while as they seem to be like moths to a flame in terms of
controversy for him. Can’t do his confidence or MH any good.
